About Us

Harvest House was begun by a group of volunteers  in early 2009 as a community outreach program of several local churches.  In a short time it has grown to include participation from secular and religious groups both from East Haddam and neighboring towns.

Hours of Operation and Philosophy

Harvest House is open to the public every Sunday from 5 to 6 pm at St. Stephen’s Church, 31 Main Street, East Haddam. Patrons are welcome to dine with us, or they may request meals to take away. In either case meals are served at no cost to patrons, no donations are accepted during service and no questions are asked. We understand how difficult it can be to ask relative strangers for assistance, and therefore wish to make it clear that patrons are always welcome to Harvest House regardless of circumstance. We endeavor at all times to welcome everyone with dignity and respect.

For those wishing to pick up meals rather than dine in, you may simply walk in and make a request, or call ahead on any Sunday we are open, after 5 pm at: 860-873-9547.

Meals

Our general practice is to prepare a complete meal, inclusive whenever possible of a major protein such as chicken, beef or pork, along with a suitable starch, vegetable, bread and salad. Dessert, coffee, tea and other beverages are always available. Alcohol is not served, and consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted in our facilities.
